One look at the Millburn Free Public Library’s soaring arched windows and lovely interior woodwork and our team here at Stellaractive knew we were dealing with a unique challenge. How can we create a dynamic, engaging library site that also showcases the amazing building that houses the library itself? We also needed to represent the knowledge and skill of the staff, the dedication and love for books of the volunteers, and the amazing variety of patrons that use the Millburn Free Public Library as a both a resource and a community gathering place.
The Stellaractive staff focused on three main areas to develop the site. The first was the Library itself and what makes it special and unique. In this case the building as well as the staff provided a wealth of imagery and content that translated well to the web. The second area was technical. We addressed issues in navigation, layout, and content and turned what was a hodgepodge of accumulated information into a clear, easy to navigate site that encouraged participation from the community. The third area was self sufficiency. We created the site in our Web Builder, allowing the staff at the Library to update the site themselves going forward whenever they wanted or needed.
It was a wonderful project to work on and we’re hoping to do more libraries in the future. Working on websites is a blast when it’s all about generating a solid community base for a worthwhile community anchor like the Millburn Free Public Library.
